Without a doubt, homemade Halloween costumes are far superior to generic ones bought in the costume shop or at the store. Artist Eric Testroete proves that with his "this years" halloween costume. He created his own head in cartoon-like BIG HEAD mode and made it entirely of paper. Using graphic software including 3D Max, he designed, modeled,printed and folded this faceted paper mask to go over his head and tuck under his jacket. Seems like a mighty intense process but the result? A very cool Eric in Wonderland effect. WOW!

Art :: A paper world
Paper Artist, Helen Musselwhite transforms her love of animals and nature into these enchanting little creations all cut and folded from paper.
The Artist works in her studio in the Northwest UK, combining the hand cutting, folding and scoring of a wide variety of papers and cardstock that is further enhanced creating a patterned and textured surface. Each piece is then paintstakingly manipulated and layered into her magical one of a kind vignettes. Influenced by the natural world Helen builds her creations into intriguing places, giving us a glimpse into another world of fiction and fairytale. I love these! They are JUST COOL!

art::paper soldier
This portrait of a soldier is "painted" using paper instead of paint! And not just any old paper either. Christian Faur created this American Soldier with shredded paper that was printed with one thousand of the most common names of those men and women currently listed with the Social Security Administration between the ages of eighteen and twenty-eight.
The image is made possible because of the way the text is rendered using different font sizes and “kernings” to appear darker or lighter.
How clever and ...JUST COOL!

fashion :: phonebook couture
When is the last time you used your phone book? Yup, I'm talking about that annoying, heavy 10,000 page reference book of telephone numbers that arrives on your doorstep each year. I just threw out a bunch of mine today. Outdated, ripped, scribbled on - a five year stack of them . I bet they'll soon be obsolete , don't you?
Then I saw this...
For Kelly Murray's Creative Processes class at Herron School of Art & Design, she concocted a paper dress made entirely of, you guessed it, phonebook paper. She pleated it, snipped it, sewed it and glued it all by hand. What she came up with was this stylish, chicly fashionable and soooo JUST COOL phonebook couture!
