tableware :: minimal midcentury modern

Awww shucks - of course this neat item would be sold out but I have to show it to my readers anyway because what a JUST COOL concept!

Fantastic for a small space and something to drool over for you midcentury modern collectors, Avant Garde was designed by Helen von Boch in the early 1970s. Basically a set of stacking tableware for four persons that becomes a centerpiece for the  dining room, forming a ball in different colors (brown, white, red brown) when not in use. 19 pieces in total, including plates, side dishes and bowls in different sizes  and they are marked underneath each piece "Villeroy & Boch, avant garde, made in Germany".Unfortunately sold out at furniture love. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

technology :: LGs sweetest chocolate

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of LG Chocolate Touch. All opinions are 100% mine.

I've always been a fan of devices that have multi functions. They just make life simpler! So imagine having a cell phone that allows you to make calls, send texts, use the internet, use Social Media, take pictures or video, AND one that also has a music player with Dolby Mobile technology for crystal-clear sound quality? Well you don't have to dream about it any longer. Thanks to LG and it's new LG Chocolate Touch that does all those things and more. This little phone packs a whole lot of features into it that will put your present phone to shame - starting with Dolby Mobile technology featuring high frequency enhancer, natural bass, mobile sound and a customizable equalizer making listening to music almost as good as hearing it live! Plus it has great visual effects and features too, including Rhythmical Beat that vibrates the handset to the beat of the music, a one-touch Social Network Message Key for easy use of Mobile Blogging on popular social media websites like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc.. And did I mention it's Mobile Media with top-notch text, picture, video, and voice messaging, including Visual Voicemail, and a sweet 3.2MP Camera/Recorder for quality pictures and videos, with an image editor that makes taking pictures and shooting videos a piece of cake? Hey, it's got some better features then my iPhone! I want one! So go ahead and check this phone out - it's JUST COOL!

green :: a toast to the tree

Even though Christmas is officially over, I'm still in the Christmas Spirit, are you? And getting ready to celebrate the New Year at the end of the week, too! So what's more apropos then this clever Christmas Tree created by the Heineken Beer Company? This gargantuan green glass (and all these bottles are full too!) Christmas Tree stands at the front of the Nanjing road mall in Shanghai.

Heineken has always been clever with its beer bottles; Warren has written how in the sixties they considered redesigning them to work as bricks. Now in China, they are using them to build Christmas trees - right now these bottles are full - yet soon to be recycled (I wonder how this tree will be looking at midnight on New Years Eve?!)  How JUST COOL!

technology::a best last minute gift!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Yamaha. All opinions are 100% mine.

I can't believe there are only four days left until Christmas. Today I am doing my MAJOR shopping (yes, I am a procrastinator!) and I'm searching the web for some unique ideas. Was I happy when I found this Yamaha PDX-60 Speaker Dock. This nifty dock lets you experience your iPhone/iPod through it's powerful speaker system with no sound delays while easily enjoying all of your favorite games, music and movies...wirelessly! Infact I would love this for myself - but I have several iPhone people on my list that I know would love it too! With the powerful Yamaha PDX-60 Speaker Dock we'll be able to enjoy media wirelessly from anywhere in the room. The exclusive Yamaha yAired (tm) wireless technology connects you quickly and with no sound delays. The sound is high quality too with deep, rich bass. I use my iphone for all kinds of multi media tasking - like watching videos on youtube, playing my sons rpg game, Ravensword, watching tv and movies on Hulu and listening to Pandora as well as listening to my own music files on my iPod.So this is a definite MUST HAVE. And did I mention that it is easy to use?Just a few of it's great features include a speaker that can be placed in any out-of-the-way location, easy operation (auto power on/off and volume control sync), a transmitter unit that is small enough that you can carry the iPod/iPhone around and talk on the iPhone with the transmitter attached, a cradle for setting the iPod/iPhone on a table, etc.. Your iPod can charge from both speaker and cradle and has a card-type remote unit that is convenient for your iPod operation. Plus it has low power consumption and it looks good too with four color variations to match your iPod and room.Okay I have convinced myself and have made the shopping a lot easier. I'll get one for each of the iPhone/iPod people on my list and I'm covered. I'll be well loved too ;) because the Yamaha PDX-60 Speaker Dock is JUST COOL and makes the perfect gift!

gardening :: thrifty and nifty

What a nifty idea! And a great gift I think for the gardener in your life OR for your own garden!

I wish I had a patch of garden that I could "plant" these in but my yard is shaded by big maple trees. :(
But fret not, these markers are great for pot gardens as well as indoor house plants too. The Etsy shop called Monkeys Always Look makes these wonderful aged markers from neglected old silver plate flatware, turning it into something new and useful. Repurpose, reuse. LOVE THAT! These are JUST COOL!

fashion:: holding on to the seventies

If you're as old as me you certainly remember the stylish neckties of the seventies! You know... those wide polyester ties with the big bold patterns? I love how fellow etsian andsometimesy has upcycled them into these cute clutches and wallets. Dotted with funky vintage buttons too. Sweet and very JUST COOL!

oh...and plus they look smashing against that chartreuse dress ;)

transportation::what a bunch of bull

Yet another reason why they have to bring motor vehicle inspection back in Oklahoma - to keep bulls from riding down the road.

This bull was caught in the act riding in his owners car by off duty police officer Donald Kraft. According to Kraft's report the driver was transporting the bull so that his daughter could ride it in the National History Day parade in Tulsa (see the letters stamped on the side of the bull). These pictures snapped by the officer are no bull either. It's a true story - bringing a new meaning to "pimp my ride" ...

design :: simple pots

il_fullxfull.67274491.jpg (750×1000)

Presentation is everything and this photo sure makes these simple minimalist pots look like something very special. And they are! Bambinas are super cute handmade pastel/white colored vessels, slipcast from Matauri Bay clay , native to New Zealand where the maker Zakiah Heath calls home.

The wee Bambinas are double cast and high fired, then sanded and left unglazed. They look beautiful on their own or in a cluster, perfect for a dinner table, mantle or window ledge. They can also be used with a tealight candle inside or as a vase. Each Bambina measures approximately 10cm in diameter. $26. Find them at  Zakiah's Popkraft Etsy Shop.

Lovely! And JUST COOL!

food::eating fast

In a quandry about where to grab your next fast food meal? With so many different fast food places out there,  the decision can be tough. But Eating the Road comes to the rescue with it's carefully thought out (and amusing as well)  flowchart that makes navigating the fast food chain a piece of cake. It's based on queries like “Are you drunk?”, “Do you have more than $3” and "Is it Sunday?". If you can follow the maze of questions it will direct you to your best fast food restaurant choice. Is it accurate? Well...if you live out in the sticks like I do, it isn't . Damn, we need a Chick-Filet around here. And a DQ, a Sonic, a White Castle ......

Still it's fun and JUST COOL!

holiday decorating : o xmas tree!

Okay, I know I just posted a few days back about a cool looking Christmas Tree I saw on etsy. Well here I am again with another neat Tree idea. Hmmmm...don't know what it is about Christmas trees... I just love them! In all shapes, colors and sizes ;)

From fellow etsian Middleburg's shop - Winter Night Trees set of three.

"These remind me of dusk in the winter, when trees look so dark, cool and green against the white snow. Made of heavy-weight muslin, hand-cut and dyed. Reclaimed wood is used for these bases which have been white washed. These are signed pieces. Mix or match them with our other style trees for an eclectic, country look in your home this holiday season."  $84.
Christmas greenery that is JUST COOL!

pets :: a turkey's plea for eye surgery

Craigslist gets stranger by the day. Instead of checking the newspaper for weird  news, I skip it and go directly to Craigslist. So because Turkey Day is right around the corner, I  thought that this cute little fella would make a newsworthy tidbit...

Meet Jerry. Lyndsey Medeiros and her husband adopted the three-year-old turkey and his girlfriend Penelope from a Rhode Island farm last week. But Jerry has cataracts, and his eye problems mean he can't eat independently or join his female companion, for fun and flying.
Medeiros has posted an ad on Craigslist seeking donations for the surgery. She said the procedure could cost up to $2,600. Her farm in Rehoboth, Mass., cares for other animals with health problems. "My husband and I rescued a 3 year old Turkey from an add on craigslist last week. I realized that he had a bluish tint to his eyes, he walked into things and had a hard time eating and drinking on his own and after brining him to a veterinary opthamologist it was discovered that he has cataracts that can be corrected with surgery. We would not be even contemplating surgery for Jerry unless it greatly improved his quality of life, but right now he needs full assistance to eat and drink and is pretty sedentary because of his lack of vision. Unfortunately surgery costs upwards of $2600, which is a little out of our reach for us for an animal that otherwise possibly would have ended up on someones dinner table. We are accepting donations to go towards Jerry's surgery and care afterwards..." So, if you are interested in not eating but helping a turkey this Thanksgiving, then go here to reply to the craigslist ad. And BTW, we're skipping the turkey this year and eating lobster. YUMMMMM.

Craigslists - WEIRD very WEIRD - but JUST COOL!

photos:: those were the days

"Before the fanny packs and Andrea Bocelli concerts, your parents (and grandparents) were once free-wheeling, fashion-forward, and super awesome."  I know mine were (wish I could dig up a few photos to show you!) and from a gander at these photos, these parents were too. Take a look back at this JUST COOL blog aptly titled MY PARENTS WERE AWESOME. It's a photo blog of snapshots sent in of parents  in their youth - before they had kids. It covers the spectrum -  from the turn of the century to the late 1980's and the photos are themselves awesome and will leave you with a smile on your face. Here are just a few...

design :: oh christmas tree!

Love this idea! It's actually a decal that you put on the wall. What a great way to give any spot in your home a festive look at Christmas! And it isn't permanent either- just peel it off and pack it away until  next year's holiday season!

Found it over at fellow etsian's Circleline Studio's shop. You can customize it with your own colors too. $62. Soooooooo JUST COOL!

cool product :: share your photos the easy way!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Eye-Fi. All opinions are 100% mine.

I just discovered the coolest product!Perfect for me because selling on eBay and Etsy , I take A LOT of photos with my digital camera  and am constantly uploading them. Plus, I love to snap photos of everything and everyone where ever I go! But no matter how much I love TAKING photos, I can't stand the tedious, time consuming task of uploading them first to my computer and then to the internet. But now theres a quicker way to upload photos right from my camera and directly to the web and I can be anywhere to do it too. It's a little memory card called the The Eye-Fi card and it's the first wireless memory card ever invented.  It stores media, fits into digital cameras and even looks just like a regular SD/SDHC card. On top of that, the Eye-Fi card has built-in Wi-Fi that uses your wireless network to effortlessly transfer photos and videos.It automatically uploads your  photos and videos to your computer and to the web. You can choose from 25 websites, including Flickr, Facebook, Picasa and more. It stores a whopping 4 GB of photos - thats up to 2000 photos and almost any digital camera is compatible with it. Sounds cool? You can read more about it at the official Eye-Fi website and watch the video here. Now I'm thinking of what a great gift this will  be for my picture taking friends, family and everyone else on my Christmas list (including me!). This product is definitely JUST COOL!

cool product :: the minimalist watering can

200911160734.jpg

The challenge with conventional watering cans? Ensuring that the water hits its target and not everywhere else.. They're also pretty unsightly, so why not make a watering can thatlooks like a work of art too? French-born Pascal Charmolu came up with the antidote: This beautifully streamlined, practical design. Made of 18-0 stainless steel, this can features a flexible silicone hose with a built-in magnet that allows it to be attached to the can’s body when not in use. When watering your plants, simply hold the metal cylinder with one hand and the hose in the other. Move the metal cylinder up or down to cease water flow. Pascal is the other half of Born in Sweden, a new design house from Europe that has just opened up in the North American market.A pretty slick looking watercan, don't ya think? Now the only problem left is which color to choose?
It's very JUST COOL!

games :: RAVENSWORD at the app store!

iphone :: RAVENSWORD released today - at app store now!!

Speaking of  iPhones, I awoke this morning to mine playing  "Papa loves Mambo" . It was my son, Josh with GREAT news! Apple just released his rpg game RAVENSWORD : THE FALLEN KING...only a few hours ago! I am soooo excited for him and so VERY PROUD of him!!  Everyone was on pins and needles last week when apple rejected the game submission due to a glitch in the engine that it was created on. But it was quickly fixed, resubmitted and apple has passed it with flying colors. Here are the details from TOUCH ARCADE:

"Apple must have expedited the reapproval of Crescent Moon Games' Ravensword as it appeared in the App Store early this morning for $6.99.
Similar to recent Elder Scrolls games like Morrowind or Oblivion, Ravensword is an open world roleplaying game with both a main quest line to follow and a considerable amount of side-quests. The developers have quoted anywhere between 6-8 hours of gameplay to complete the initial quest without taking side-quests into account.
The Ravensword game world is surprisingly detailed for an iPhone game, and performs remarkably well. Along the way you will equip your character with all kinds of different magical items and slay hordes of enemies as the main quest line slowly reveals your character's mysterious identity."
So people, this spectacular RPG game is just another reason to go iPhone! You can buy RAVENSWORD : The Fallen King - iPhone's most ambitious roleplaying game at the Apple Store. It's only 6.99 and of course JUST COOL! Off to buy mine now, so  later peeps!

Oh...here's a preview of  the game - Joshy explaining the play...

iphone :: finally it sounds good

I love my iPhone and I won't go anywhere without it. With it, I can be anywhere and still have practically everything I need right at my fingertips!Internet, phone, my music, the weather,gps system, a ton of apps and much much more. But I have to admit I am not crazy about the sound quality. Whoever designed the tiny muffled speaker in this jam packed mobile phone wasn't too smart in that department. So was I happy when I saw that Yamaha has come out with an awesome speaker dock where you can park your iPhone (or iPod) and enjoy your iPod/iPhone games, music and movies wirelessly from anywhere in the room. The powerful Yamaha PDX-60 Speaker Dock uses exclusive Yamaha yAired (tm) wireless technology so you get Instant connection with no sound delays and quality sound with deep, rich bass. The convenience of dual charging means two separate iPhone or iPods can be charged at the same time, one using the dock on the speaker and another on the included charging cradle. This awesome product practically turns your iPhone into a mini home theater system!
With easy to use features such as a speaker that can be placed in any out-of-the-way location, easy operation (auto power on/off and volume control sync), a transmitter unit small enough that you can carry the iPod/iPhone around and talk on the iPhone with the transmitter attached, a cradle for setting the iPod/iPhone on a table, etc. and low power consumption it has it all! AND did I mention it even looks great with a choice of four color variations to match your iPod and room! Isn't technology, especially this technology JUST COOL?

art :: its only a paper head

Without a doubt, homemade Halloween costumes are far superior to generic ones bought in the costume shop or at the store. Artist Eric Testroete proves that with his "this years" halloween costume. He created his own head in cartoon-like BIG HEAD mode and made it entirely of paper. Using graphic software including 3D Max, he designed, modeled,printed and folded this faceted paper mask to go over his head and tuck under his jacket. Seems like a mighty intense process but the result? A very cool Eric in Wonderland effect. WOW!

Check out more of Eric's unusual art projects in his portfolio online. They're JUST COOL!

design :: walking on air

This "Mistral" staircase by Stiller is not only functional but has beautiful design sense as well. The "floating" stair treads give the illusion of walking on air!

Art :: your very own blue car christmas!

This year seems to have flown by so quickly, hasn't it? I can't believe I am already hearing Christmas music in all the stores and isles are filled with miles of Christmas decorations,gifts and more. Hey, I think I'll jump on the bandwagon and join them by doing a little Holiday promotion myself . But I promise, this is the last you'll here of me on my stuff this year. :)

It's that time again. Christmas is in the air! This painting was featured on the cover of last Christmas' NATURAL AWAKENINGS Magazine and I have received so many wonderful comments and requests on it that I am now offering it in my Vintagewarehouse shop on Etsy as this years special customizable painting to include your family, your pets and your house colors! Sure to make a unique and treasured addition to your home. Or order for a thoughtful and personalized gift for your friends and family on your Christmas list!
About this painting - "This nostalgic painting was inspired by many childhood Christmases spent at my Grandparents' cozy old victorian house in the Catskill Mountains in Upstate New York! That's our 1958 pink and blue Ford Station Wagon car but instead of driving to get the tree, we would actually trudge up onto the mountain and chop one down for the living room. Usually a lopsided scraggly "Charlie Brown" tree that looked beautiful once it was up and festooned with shimmery old fashioned glass ornaments, ropes of glass beads and dripping with silver tinsel. Underneath the tree Granny always had a little town of micah covered cardboard houses, a mirror "skating rink" and lead skating figures. Christmas time was always such a magical time for us up on Schunnemunk Mountain! Good memories!"
