pets :: having a ball

Jerry is one lucky dog. His inventive master rigged up a JUST COOL ball machine that would keep the pooch company and excercised when he wasn't around. Bet Poppy Petunia wishes her mistress would be so smart.

Jerry's owner wrote,"I built the ball machine because I thought my dog Jerry, might like it and that it would be something fun for me to build. So after two years of on and off work, with many safety features such as IR proximity sensors to protect Jerry and my son from the machine, I finally complete.

Far from being a replacement for me, I was always right there with him enjoying his fun. And with all the troubles that I went through to build the ball machine, I still end up throwing more balls than that the machine could count! According to the computer, he played with the machine by himself only 3 times in his life.

I recently put this video on YouTube to keep alive my earlier memories of him and (hopefully) provide some "humorous distractions" for anyone that might drop by."

furniture :: chummy seating

I love this award winning seating called Confluences by Philippe Nigro for Ligne Roset. Colorful, a bit eccentric in design and lookin' cozy!

Introduced at the 2009 ICFF, each component of Confluences seating combines varying heights, depths and angles to create a variety of seating layouts in an unconventional way. Just like a puzzle, the colorful non-symetrical pieces can be pieced together to form two, three or four seater sofas with a chaise option. Another plus? The covers are completely removable and are offered in a variety of fabrics and colors. I like that! This JUST COOL design was recoginized as a Red Dot Best of the Best distinction and received "A Young Design Award", awarded to designers under 35, at the Milan Furniture Fair

cool product:: my cup does not runneth over

No need for a refill when you have this excellent wine glass. It refills itself!

"The Glass Tank" by Japanese designer Kouichi Okamoto uses air and water pressure to keep the glass filled with a constant amount of liquid. And the liquid never runs over! How smart that is. And JUST COOL!

instructions :: read carefully

Always read the instructions carefully before jumping into anything ;)

kids:: safeguard their future

Being a grandmother is certainly grand! I have two beautiful grandchildren Aven and Calla and guess what? I'm expecting another one in February (grandchild that is)! Science and technology sure have come a long way since I had children. First of all we rarely had official results that we were expecting until our third month along. Now you can get results when you're only a week pregnant! And there are so many advances in genetics and medicine that help to assure that your child is born healthy and stays healthy all along the way. For instance saving the cord blood of your child when you give birth. Sasha and Josh opted to save my grandchildren's cord blood and I'm sure they will for baby number three also. Cord blood has a remarkable ingredient in it. Stem cells!  Did you know that U-Cord blood stem cells are known to treat over 75 diseases, and have been used in over 12,000 transplants worldwide? Banking cordblood is like having a health insurance policy in place should a devastating health issue arise in your family's future.
Right now, Cryo-Cell is offering an exclusive premium family service, "Protect Baby, Protect Mom" where you can get the best value and choose to enroll online with Cryo-Cell using promotional code:995PS . You have to enroll by midnight, Sunday, July 26th, though. You will receive special UCORD pricing of $995 for processing, testing and first year of storage plus the cancellation fee is waived.. If you happen to miss that date then be sure to enroll in the Signature UCORD Service and Exclusive C’elle Service, for the low price of only $1299 by using the  Promo code: P2PS. If you or someone you know is expecting - cord blood banking is an important lifesaving decision, so take advantage of this special discounted offer and ENROLL NOW!

design :: sink savvy

Okay...so how cool is this? Neve kills two birds with one stone in the bathroom with this ingenious towel bar faucet. I love things that do double duty and this one does!
The Canali modular faucet from Neve is brilliantly JUST COOL! The design puts two hollow tubes together into one bathroom accessory. The spout of the faucet is extended along the wall to form a towel rack and the pipe is modular, so you can mix and match pieces to create any shape you want to fit the design of your bathroom.

technology :: yamaha simplifies it

I've had it with all the remotes in my house, especially when it comes to trying to figure out which goes with which device and remembering how to reprogram them once you've pushed the wrong button. It can get downright frustrating! I can recall at least three times I've had to give Time Warner a call because I screwed something up while playing with the various remotes. Well now Yamaha has created the ground-breaking neoHD, a new device that simplifies your entire entertainment system. One remote, one on-screen interface and complete control. No more piles of unruly remotes to confuse me or you! It's the ultimate in convenience, a single easy-to-use interface that controls your tv,dvd player, game systems and other devices all from one user friendly remote . Want one? Right now if you go to blog.izea.com you can enter to win your very own neoHD. Or better yet, if you have a twitter account you may enter to win just by tweeting: “I just entered to win a #neoHD b/c I have too many remotes, visit (blog.izea.com) to enter”. And if you are on facebook find the Yamaha neoHD on there. I want one and I'm definitely going to enter, because the Yamaha neoHD Sweepstakes is JUST COOL!

food :: persuasive broccoli

I've done my share of broccoli posts , but this tops them all. This is the first I have seen of subliminal messaging on a frozen organic broccoli box or any other frozen vegetable box for that matter. So take a look and be awed! See all the little subliminal green man heads hiding amongst the fluffy green florets? Whats up with that?

Look closely and you can see the green men here:

no? perhaps these macro shots will help:

College :: Sears makes it easy

I can't believe how the years have flown by. It seems like just yesterday Libby was in kindergarten! Now she's all grown up and headed to college in September. I am a little worried about the finances because since she won't be working full time, she'll have to really watch her pennies. Good thing Sears is listening and has an excellent website called Sears CampusReady that has helpful hints for the college bound student on  making the transition. The site has some great suggestions for gearing up the dorm room - making it funky as well as functional and on a shoestring budget! Plus it has a cool interactive check list section so the kids can check off the things they will be needing for that big move. Sears even has finances covered with their  Reload-able Gift Cards. These gift cards are distributed to both the student and parent - the parent can load funds onto the card online, in a store, or in a student shop at their local Sears and Kmart stores to help their kids out while they are away from home. And if your kids, like mine are on facebook, Sears has thought of everything including CampusReady on Facebook to help you and your college student become "Campus Ready". Sears for college - it's JUST COOL!

technology :: blue tooth blings it

I always swore I would never wear one of those hideous looking blue tooth headsets on my ear. Ears are meant for prettier things - diamonds, gold, bling. Enter the Orb, probably the coolest looking blue tooth around! This transformer type headset morphs from a useful little ring you wear on your finger into a sleek and stylish appliance hanging from your ear. While in its ring form, its flexible organic light emitting diode (FOLED) displays caller ID, calendar items and voice-to-text info, and if you want to answer a call, simply take the ring off your finger, twist it into its headset shape, and hang it on your ear for hands-free talking.

Orb will go on sale in January 2010, with the base model selling for $129, and the Deluxe Edition (the one with that FOLED display) following in April for $175. JUST COOL of course!

iPhone:: find it, rent it!

-1I love my iPhone and practically everyone these days has one since they've come out with the latest $99 version. I'm also app happy - I have a ton of apps on mine and now I just discovered another very cool app available for people searching for apartments to rent! I think this would be great for college students, business people who change locations frequently - just about anyone looking for a place to live! And wow has technology come a long way with this one. Your iPhone automatically picks up your GPS location so when you launch the app it can direct you to rentals in your area. OR just type in a specific location you're looking for and it will list rentals in that area. It gives detailed info on each rental, pictures of the properties, plus you can phone or email the rental managers right from your iPhone through the links in the app. It even has a Notes and Photos option to keep you organized by letting you store thoughts and photos right on the listing. So go ahead, check out more info on this great app at http://www.mynewplace.com/iphone . This app is free and available at MyNewPlace in the iPhone app store . Is that not JUST COOL or what?! Downloading my free ap app NOW!

cool product :: mirror mirror on the ironing board

How many of you are still living in the dark ages and actually iron your clothes? Okay, okay,  I sheepishly admit that I do. Yes, I am a slave to my ironing board. And what a pain. So what  a clever idea is this ironing board! "Madame est servie" is an  ironing board that tilts into a cheval mirror. Now you can press your dress, put it on and check your mirror to see if you've missed any spots! Best thing? No having to fold up the ironing board and put it away. yay.

designed by Aïssa Logerot

Pretty JUST COOL, I'd say.

recycling :: heartburn hill

Coke can recycling went to the extreme when 200,000 crushed cans were arranged to recreate a 1949 Coca-Cola billboard ad. Now that's a heck of a lot of heartburn!

The creative endeavor kicked off the start of recycle week in the UK and was a 50 meter long work of art created by Robert Bradford and his team of artists, taking a week in all to complete.Now that's JUST COOL!

advertising :: don't sit down!

I think I'd better lose a few pounds before sitting on this bench! This cleverly revealing outdoor advertising for the gym Fitness First, makes your weight public when you take a seat on the bench at this Rotterdam bus stop. Maybe incentive to get to the gym - THEIR gym - and get moving?

A smart idea and very JUST COOL!

Dog Shampoo

Awwww...Summertime! A lazy season to kick back and enjoy the great outdoors. Like going camping. for instance. Sure, it's hectic preparation - getting all the camping gear together, planning for meals etc. but once you get all the kids, the dogs and camping paraphanalia in the car, fun is just around the corner (or up the mountain)! Last year when we went camping in Maine we had a blast. Even Poppy Petunia had a good time until a run in with a skunk and then none of us were happy campers for a couple days. Infact we ended up staying away from the campsite for those couple days because the stink was so bad. And giving Poppy a Tomato Juice bath wasn't successful either . Looking back on that stinky memory I wish I had known about Dogosuds, an awesome dog shampoo from Dinovite. This amazing dog shampoo not only takes the skunk odor away but comes in four different all natural blends that leave your pooch smelling fresh, fragrant and clean!It also contains no chemicals or perfumes, just honest to goodness soothing herbal ingredients like saponified coconut ,olive and jojoba oils, aloe, yucca, peppermint,bergamot,geranium,patchouli,sandalwood and rosemary extracts and of course tea tree oil. Oh and if your dog is itching and scratching along with doggy odor , Dogosuds is great for that too! I wish I had it with me during that camping trip! Live and learn - I know I'll be bringing some with us next time we hit the trail!

fashion:: surfs up!

Surf's up and who says wet suits can't be fashionable as well as comfortable and functional . Diddo designed his wetsuits with style in mind, yet with a quirky twist. His new line of these form fitting suits are funky and JUST COOL as well!

Diddo's four original designs consist of a rusted iron diving suit evoking the days of Jules Verne, an anatomic musculature suit no doubt taken from the pages of  a hefty Gray's Anatomy reference book, a shark attack wet suit which gives the illusion that the wearer has been attacked by hungry sharks and finally a whale shark patterned suit inspired by that colorful creature from our under water world. These amazing wet suits aren't on the market just yet but are expected soon!

Pets :: Cat Cafe

Here's an interesting idea, one that I have never heard of or seen in the US. A cat cafe! It isn't a place for cats to go drink coffee and eat delicious pastries but a place for people to go and pet cats while enjoying a coffee break. This Cat Cafe pictured, is in Osaka Japan, and for Six hundred yen (about $5) you get all the cats you can pet for an hour. Upon entering the Cafe, you are sprayed with disinfectant and given slippers to put on. The "Cafe" is divided into two arhttp://flushrush.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/cafe.jpgeas. One actually looks like a cafe where you sit at a table with your coffee, tea,pastries or whatever whilest the feline of your choice sits on your lap, keeping you company. The other room is where you go just to pet the cats. You can even buy tuna to entice the aloof kitties into paying YOU some attention and letting you pet them. It seems like a great idea for people in apartments where they aren't allowed pets - but to me, it sounds a little bizarre.
However, just like everything else in Japan, I'm sure Cat Cafe's will soon catch on in America, because...they're JUST COOL! (kinda)

fashion :: armani exchange

Is it summer or is it fall??? Our weather up here in the Northeast has been so strange and fall like lately (hey I'm not complaining since I'm not a fan of summer heat) that I've been busy surfing the web for my fall wardrobe. Jeans are a must have staple for everyone's wardrobe no matter what season it is and since Armani Exchange  has "New Premium Denim starting at $98" I found a few favorites I would love to buy! Like the J57 Straight. Its a low rise classic fit straight leg perfect for the girl who want an ulta sexy look that exudes cool confidence. And right now AX is running some great promotions. Like their "text A|X contest" SMS campaign  to win a pair of denim every day for the month of July by texting the keyword "DENIM2" to ARMANI (276264). Also customers who purchase a full price pair of denim from Armani Exchange, in store or online, between 7/7/09 – 7/19/09 will receive a gift card of $20 off their next purchase of $100 or more, valid 7/30/09 through 8/15/09. Can't beat that!
Of course AX isn't only about the denim. They have stylish looks in dresses, tops, bottoms and all kinds of accessories.A|X Armani Exchange is accessible Armani, inspired by street-chic culture, fashionable dance music and everything that signifies freedom and personal style, a youthful label created by Italian designer and entrepreneur Giorgio Armani. Here, Mr. Armani created a casual, yet sophisticated collection for the young, urban and sexy. The company designs, manufactures, distributes and retails fashion and lifestyle products, including apparel, accessories, eyewear, watches, jewelry, and music. and more. So check it out!

education :: get yours online

Lately I have been thinking about broadening my horizons - maybe even finding a new career . What would my dream job be? A traveling journalist would be fun I think.It's great how the internet makes learning new things and improving ones career skills so easy for everyone.  I've been reading about a new platform that Learn.com , the leader in on-demand workforce development and productivity, just rolled out. It makes Elearning  fun and easy by providing a single, integrated site for those seeking skill improvement for a particular job profile and those seeking to hire skilled, "job ready" workers. It has a huge database of learning programs, and what I think is very impressive, is that  it even has member created courses and there are some interesting travel courses included that I might take. I like the idea of members (by the way, you can register for free) being able to contribute to the website also. In fact people can  publish their own courses and receive a percentage of the revenue their courses generate.So this site has really got it covered when it comes to learning and enhancing your career skills as well as sharing your knowlege with others. Whether your goal is to earn a degree in business, get your paralegal certificate or just take a personal development course, like yes, attracting butterflies, brewing your own beer or juggling, there's truly something for everyone here. So check it out!
